New Hitachi dealer for Latvia and Lithuania

November 22, 2019

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) has announced the appointment of Alwark SIA in Latvia and Alwark UAB in Lithuania as of 1 September 2019. The authorised dealers will supply a complete range of Hitachi excavators and wheel loaders to customers in these Baltic countries.

The Alwark Group was established in 2007, and provides sales, rental and maintenance of new and used material handling, warehouse, seaport and airport equipment, and municipal machinery. With 11 sales and service locations in Baltic countries, it has 150 employees and achieved a turnover of €36 million in 2018.

The group focuses on developing successful long-term partnerships with its customers, paying equal attention to large enterprises and smaller companies, and providing cost-effective technical solutions.

“The most important thing is being a reliable partner to our customers, which means much more than just good service, the best price and availability,” says Alwark SIA Marketing Manager Evita Tuca. “It means people, flexible cooperation and understanding the core of the successful relationship.”

Positive outlook

The Baltic construction market is developing in line with economic trends and shows potential for growth over the next decade. In Latvia, several projects are underway focusing on the renewal of urban infrastructure, and in Lithuania the construction market is expected to grow 2.9% annually for the next eight years. Development of transport infrastructure, housing renovation and non-residential construction will drive the market in the mid-term.

The transport sector is strategically important for Lithuania, due to its location between Russia and the EU. It also intends to become a hub between Nordic countries and Central Asia and China. One of the most important strategic transport infrastructure projects on the horizon is the Rail Baltica project, supported by EU funding.

The Lithuanian market is also experiencing rising labour costs, both in the construction sector and in equipment maintenance. “They are increasing much faster than average in the EU, so there is a need to purchase new construction equipment or at least replace older machines with newer models in order to increase productivity and efficiency,” says Alwark UAB Marketing Manager Aiste Simkiene.

HCME President Makoto Yamazawa says, “We welcome Alwark as the latest member of the Hitachi authorised dealer network. There is significant growth potential for our market share in these Baltic countries, and we look forward to supporting our new and existing customers in Latvia and Lithuania.”
