Italian contractor BTF (Benedetti, Torricelli, Fuccelli) has three Hitachi excavators in its fleet, including a ZX55U-5. The Umbria-based company specialises in earthmoving and utility work, and general and road construction projects.
One of the company’s three owners, Miguel Torricelli, says: “The Hitachi mini excavator offers us a high level of versatility thanks to its excellent hydraulic system. It is a very good machine for operating the breaker efficiently, and it digs trenches and loads trucks well with the standard bucket. We have also found it to be precise, reliable and the ECO mode significantly reduces fuel consumption.”
Operator Riccardo Giglietti works for BTF in Umbria, Italy, and used a ZX55U-5 for utilities on the redevelopment of the Monteluce hospital. “The cab is excellent and very comfortable – I have ample legroom, which is impressive for a machine of this size,” he says.
“It’s a typical Hitachi excavator, so it has a number of high-tech features and is reliable of course. I really like the air conditioning, and enjoy working with such a fast and accurate machine.”
Giuliano Serangeli owns Euro Strade with his wife, Rosella Pezzato. Their company specialises in recycling, transport, road construction/asphalt earthmoving, groundworks and utilities. “The ZX55U-5 is used for landscaping and utility projects, because it is compact and light,” says Giuliano.
“It is faster and more comfortable than the ZX50, and the air conditioning is now included as standard. The overall design is also better, for example there is more legroom in the cab and the engine stays cooler for longer.”
Operator Gianluca Delle Piaggie adds: “The ZX55U-5 is user-friendly, can take on any job and the cab is spacious. It also operates smoothly and is very precise, so it’s good for landscaping and other similar jobs.”
