Hitachi special application excavators are designed to exceed expectations on the most challenging of job sites, where conventional machines fear to tread
The ZX470LCH‑5 demolition machine was purchased by German family demolition firm, B Trinkl, after it made its first public appearance on the Hitachi stand at Bauma 2013
According to Florian Trinkl – a partner in B Trinkl – the key decision criteria were “simplicity of design, operator comfort and suitability for our projects – and Hitachi offered the best overall package”
The ZX470LCH’s first assignment in July 2013 was the demolition of a former residential building in the upmarket area surrounding the Englischer Garten (English Garden) in Munich
The demolished building will make way for Park Avenue, a new seven-floor development of 23 executive apartments
The ZX470LCH‑5 has made a good impression with Florian: “The design of the Zaxis‑5 range looks trustworthy and we are very happy with the return on fuel economy. We have had a very positive experience on its first project”
Operator André Niejaki says: “It is wonderful, the best machine ever and a joy to operate – I love it! It has been designed with the operator in mind, works like a dream and is the only excavator I have operated in which the visibility is perfect”
The ZX350LC‑5 telescopic clamshell was purchased by the Swiss railway construction consortium, SGC, after its management team saw similar models on Hitachi’s YouTube channel and in customer magazine, Ground Control
According to SGC’s Earthmoving Works Engineer, Aurélien Bois, Hitachi was “the most cost-effective solution and the only manufacturer who designs and builds such a machine in house”
The ZX350LC‑5’s first assignment in September 2013 was loading trucks with materials excavated from a tunnel 13m below ground level on the CEVA railway project in Geneva
The aim of CEVA is to construct a new 16km cross‑city and cross‑border rail link to France that will enable passengers to cross Geneva in 20 minutes
The ZX350LC‑5 has made a positive impact with Aurélien: “It has already proved to be a cost‑effective and user‑friendly option, as it enables us to excavate materials up to 20m below the ground in a very confined area”
Operator João Almeida says: “I have worked with many machines since 1985, but this is the one that I like operating the most. It is easy to manoeuvre, the cab is very comfortable and the fuel consumption is good – the perfect solution for this type of job”
