Factory restructure for HCME to improve efficiency
The Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) Oosterhout and Amsterdam factories are currently undergoing a restructure to improve operational efficiency by more than 50%. A new distribution centre will also be established. “I am confident that our competitive position in the market will be enhanced as a result,” says HCME Director Production and Procurement, Kazutoshi Yoshioka.

International Rental Exhibition a success
Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) attended this year’s International Rental Exhibition in Amsterdam. The event was held in May alongside the European Rental Association’s annual convention and saw a record number of attendees this year. HCME exhibited the ZX19-5 mini excavator and ZW75-6 compact wheel loader and showcased the benefits – such as excellent fuel economy and reliability – that make its machines perfect for the rental market.

Hitachi Construction Machinery comes out on top
German-based company Richard Schulz Tiefbau GmbH has added a Hitachi ZX300LCN-6 and a ZX225USLC-5 to its fleet after trialling four different brands of excavators. Operators were struck by the power and capacity of the ZX300LCN-6. Andreas Maul says: “I’ve been particularly impressed by the low fuel consumption – this is the best machine that I’ve operated in the past 20 years!”

Lynch Plant Hire, based in the UK, has invested in a Hitachi ZX350LC-5 CTA to help construct the Thames Tideway Tunnel. The clamshell telescopic excavator was purchased as part of the company’s fleet expansion programme, and will be used on other high-profile jobs around London after the project.

Hitachi EX1900-6 is fast and cost-effective
A Hitachi EX1900-6 is making a positive impact at the Usibelli Coal Mine (UCM) in Alaska. The only operational coal mine in the state, UCM produces 1.5 million tonnes of coal per year. “It’s a similar size to the machine we had been using, but faster and more cost effective,” says VP of Operations and General Manager Alan Renshaw.

Hitachi products provide a perfect solution
Northern Irish limestone supplier McKeon Stone has replaced two excavators with a ZX670LCR-5 by utilising a Hitachi Capital finance package. The combination of service and product under the Hitachi brand umbrella, has proved to be cost-efficient and productive. “The ZX670LCR-5 is saving us at least €1,000 per week in fuel costs. There has also been a significant reduction in maintenance,” says Managing Director Niall Kavanagh.

ZX19-5 offers precision on a challenging job site
Polish contractor FHU Elkop selected a Hitachi ZX19-5 mini excavator for a challenging job at a holiday camp near the village of Olza. The Zaxis-5 model is helping to remove old meters and install a new network of electric cables. “This is my first time in a Hitachi mini excavator, and I’ve been very impressed by how well it operates in tight spaces,” says its operator Andrzej Durczont.
