Double delight
A Zaxis-6 excavator and a ZW-6 wheel loader are proving to be the perfect fit for two recycling companies in Germany. Fred Walther Baggerbetrieb has purchased a ZX300LCN‑6, while MinERALiX has invested in a ZW310‑6.
ZX300LCN-6

Fred Walther Baggerbetrieb was founded in 1995, and carries out a wide range of construction projects, including recycling services.

The contractor purchased the ZX300LCN-6 for use on its recycling site in Karlsruhe. The company has been working there for five years.

The Zaxis-6 machine, supplied by authorised Hitachi dealer Kiesel, is being used to separate and break up asphalt materials. These are loaded on to a mobile crusher.

Other Hitachi construction machinery in the fleet includes a ZX210LCN-3 crawler and ZX190W-3 wheeled excavator, as well as the compact ZX30, ZX50 and ZX85 models.

Owner Fred Walther is delighted with the investment; he says: “This is a very good machine. The most significant and positive development is the bigger engine compared to the previous model.”

Operator Thorsten Jost, who has been with the company since 1998, is equally as positive: “The power, speed and overall efficiency of the machine have impressed me most. It’s also very precise and responsive.”
ZW310-6

Recycling company MinERALiX invested in a ZW310-6 for its site near Weingarten (Baden) in southern Germany.

The company tested machines from five different manufacturers. Based on this, the Hitachi wheel loader was selected and supplied by Kiesel.

The ZW310-6 is required to dump wet and ‘sticky’ materials from the bucket. Under test conditions, the Hitachi wheel loader was the only machine that fully emptied the bucket due to the speed of the hydraulic system.

The ZW310-6 joins another Hitachi wheel loader – a ZW220. The company has enjoyed a positive experience with both the existing machine and Kiesel since 2011.

Operator Milanko Milivojević has 20 years’ experience and played a leading role in the wheel loader test. He says: “The Hitachi was very comfortable and powerful, as well as the best to drive. It’s very stable and performs well when carrying materials.”

“It also feels safe and stable when loading trucks thanks to the excellent visibility. It’s quieter and offers a more comfortable working environment in the cab. The rear visibility is also better than the other machines,” adds Milanko.
